Tracey is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and is trained in the trauma-specific therapy EMDR. Many of her clients are looking to process, resolve, and move beyond their experiences of sexual assault and abuse, as well as other traumas such as bullying, physical assault, physical and emotional abuse, and loss. She has ten years experience working with and supporting survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. She received her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, which incorporated many different counselling models including Rogerian, existential, solution-focused, career counselling, family systems, and motivational interviewing.
She is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on mindfulness techniques as well as clarification of life values. ACT can be effective for you if you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, and negative self-talk. It is also a tool to help you proactively create and engage in a meaningful life.
Sexuality and gender can have significant impacts on our lives, and finding a counsellor who understands and acknowledges this can be a challenge for some. I have been a part of extensive training programs to better serve the trans and non-binary communities, and am dedicated to continued education. I am incredibly proud to serve the LGBT2SQIA community.
